Electric and Water Utility Rate Proposal Updated May 2018

On May 22, 2018, the Riverside City Council approved a five-year rate plan for Riverside Public Utilities. New water rates go into effect on July 1, 2018 and new electric rates go into effect on January 1, 2019. These rates provide for a gradual increase in rates through 2022. The decision made by the City Council came after years of planning and public meetings and began with the adoption of the Utility 2.0 Strategic Plan in 2015. Below are details regarding the water and electric rate proposal that led to its adoption.

The maps below identify the locations for infrastructure projects related to the approved rate plan:

Public meetings on the subject of an increase in rates began on August 28, 2017. Since that date, RPU has participated in many public meetings - including two joint workshops with the RPU Board and City Council and more than 50 community meetings throughout Riverside.

All meetings were public and meeting documents including agendas, minutes, presentations and any attachments have been preserved for review. (Please click here for our Document archive.)

It's time to repair and replace our infrastructure.
